Shah Rukh Khan went all out promoting his Diwali magnum opus Happy New Year. The actor and producer of the film left no stone unturned to ensure his film got a bumper opening. In fact with HNY, his marketing team strategised a plan where their product was talked, debated, discussed on virtually every media platform – print, visual or digital. It was a three fold plan that worked and created enormous buzz for the film. In fact the HNY actors were in a new city every second day, just a week before the movie released.
Aamir Khan whose PK releases around Christmas this year is known to be an innovator when it comes to marketing. Unlike his contemporaries, Aamir has always taken the ‘hatke‘ path and gone against the norm in promoting and creating the right hype for his films. Be it the shaving off the ushers heads during Ghajini or visiting management campuses for 3 Idiots, Aamir has a pulse on his audience and knows how to create buzz.
However, it seems that with SRK going aggressive with HNY, Aamir is left with no other option but to ask his team to come up with different ideas to promote PK. A source revealed that Aamir has been burning the midnight lamp with director Rajkumar Hirani to ideate and come up with a new plan that will be better than not just SRK but any other film of 2014.
