Daleem without meat



Ingredients
3/4 cup channa Daal
1/2 cup whole wheat
1/2 cup barley
1/4 cup Moong Daal
1/4 cup Masoor Daal
1/4 cup mash daal
1/4 cup rice
Salt to taste
1/2 tbs red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 small bay leaves,
1 tbs ginger garlic paste/minced/grated
1/4 cup oil-add more if needed
For the tempering:
1/4 cup oil-for the tempering
1 large onion-sliced
1/8 tsp kalonji/nigella seeds+1/8 tsp mustered seeds+4-5 buttons red chiles
Green chiles+green coriander-for garnish
Directions
Soak whole wheat, barely, and pulses for two hours/over night.
Then put wheat+barley in to the pressure cooker add enough water and cook until tender, once tender take it out of the pressure cooker and put it in an other pot, in the same pressure cooker add all the daals/pulses add enough water and let it cook until tender, once cooked all the way through put this mixture to the wheat+barley mixture and blend with hand blender until homogenized, heat oil in a big pot add ginger garlic paste sauté then add spices(salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder & bay leaves) sauté then add in mashed Daal mixture mix mix mix.
For the tempering:
Heat oil in a pan then add in sliced onion and fry until gets golden in color, then add in 1/4 tsp cumin seeds, button red chilies, 1/8tsp kalonji/nigella seed, 1/8 tsp mustered seeds to it and pour over the Daal mixture.
Garnish with green chilies+green coriander and lemon wedges, sprinkle some chat masala on top.
