Ingredients
1 cup sabut masoor ki dal
1 Tbsp salt
1 Tbsp ginger-finely chopped
2 Tbsp ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 bay leaves
1/4 cup tomatoes-grated
3 green chillies-slit
1/2 tsp garam masala
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1 Tbsp coriander leaves-chopped
Method
Pick, clean and wash the dal.
Cook with water, salt and ginger until the dal becomes soft.
Heat oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds and the bay leaves.
When they splutter, add tomatoes and stir-fry till the oil separates.
Add the green chillies, garam masala, coriander powder and chilli powder and mix well.
Add the dal to this mixture and bring to a boil, leave to simmer for about 10 minutes.
Serve hot. Garnish with coriander leaves.
